To complement RIIA®’s Summer Conference, the Retirement Management Journal, Volume 6, Issue 1, is now available to members as a pdf in the Member Area, www.riia-usa.org. Non-members may purchase hard copies on Amazon for $25.

RMJ Editor, Robert Powell, opens his Letter from the Editor with, “If it hasn’t happened already, it will, and likely sooner rather later. Your client base is aging. Now that might not come as a surprise. But what might come as a surprise is the knowledge required to deal with clientele who will, in many cases, need long-term care, or clientele who will have diminished mental capacity, or clientele who will need to use “buffer assets” to protect against sequence-of-return risk.”

This latest issue of thought leadership from RIIA delivers exceptional papers that address these very issues, including unique considerations when working with a client planning for themselves in retirement as well as their special-needs dependent. This RMJ brings new insight to creating retirement income, including a new approach to determining a “safe” withdrawal rate, and, the potential benefits of a dynamic withdrawal strategy when considering whether or not to delay Social Security benefits.

Many thanks to RIIA member and supporter, Franklin Templeton, for sponsoring this issue of the Retirement Management Journal.

Thank you to our authors, as well, for their time and effort in submitting papers for the RMJ.

If you have questions, comments, or would like to submit a paper for the next issue of the RMJ, coming in November/December, please contact Robert Powell, rmjeditor@riia-usa.org, or Kim McSheridan, assistant editor, kim@riia-usa.org.

Enjoy your reading!
